While at the Tequila Cup Aerobatic Contest in Tuscon AZ, I got wind of a Pitts S1S that might be for sale. She had been sitting in the back of a hangar for several years - no engine, no prop, and she needed to be recovered. Just up my alley since I already have an engine and prop just laying around in my shop.
So last week Chrissy and I drove 3200 miles round trip to Dessert-Aire Washington, inspected and bought the little Pitts, loaded her up on the trailer and took her home to our shop/garage.
Back home we begain the process of tear-down. I discovered she was a factory-built fuselage, landing gear and tail. Awesome. She was in EXCELLENT shape. She needs new landing gear bungees, rudder control cables and that's about it. Parts on order! Stay tuned for the buildup.
