A lot of stuff has happened since my last update! On Cannontrek III at about 280 miles into the ride I hit a bad patch of sand at 40 mph and took a header over the handlebars. Landed 20 feet further than where my bike stopped. Fractured 3 ribs.
Had several midnight trips to the emergency room for stomach pains. Ended up with gall bladder surgery... Chrissy and Katie came home to stay with me for a week while I recouped... Lost 8 lbs... still have not gained it back.
Flew out to New York to pick up a new (to me) motorcycle. A 2002 BMW 1150 GSA Adventure. Rode it to Terre Haute Indiana where I visited with my folks for a few days and scoped out areas to move to when I retire. Kind of liked the Dutch Acres subdivision but there were some issues there.
Rode up to Indianapolis and did some training with our fueling company then rode home to Lakeville. A total of 1700 miles.
Tomorrow, my buddy Lace Town and I will head out to the big bike rally in Sturgis South Dakota. We'll be out there about a week mixing it up with all the wild bunch (about 100,000 other riders). Maybe I'll get a "Born to be Wild" tatoo... hahahahaa!
Oshkosh is happening right NOW and I am not there for the first time in 20 years. I needed a break. I'll be back next year.
Here are some pics:
This is where I broke my ribs (the UP of MI) This is my new (to me) BMW 1150 GSA on the road home from NY to MN.
