Deadhorse AK - The End of The Road

We arrived in Deadhorse around 11pm or so... found the "motel" we were looking for - nothing more than a construction mobile trailer, paid our $190.00 for the little two-bed room (the beds were the military-style singles).  Took a shower in the commnity stalls down the hall and hit the sack.

When morning arrived I looked outside... cold and RAIN!....OH SHIT! ... it will be a tough ride back.
We paid about $18.00 for a grease-filled breakfast...but it was very good!  ate with a bunch of other adventure riders from all over the world...we debated on leaving or staying.  Most were leaving today.  I wanted to wait out the weather, but could not afford another night.  BUT FIRST and formost.. I need to find a Deadhorse STICKER for my motorcycle.... after all, that was the end reason for riding all the way up here.  After breakfast Mike and I loaded up and headed off to fine gas and stickers.  We found the Prudhoe Bay Hotel (a bunch more bikers were holed up there), but no stickers.  Finally at the (one and only) gas station we were told stickers could be found at (what the locals call) "The Mall".  It was on the other end of town.  We found it and our stickers at the Prudhoe Bay General Store (The Mall).  I took the required picture of our bikes by the famous sign.  Mike is a much faster ride than I am and he was still busy shopping so we agreed I would leave now and he would catch up down the road.  I headed South in the pouring down rain.  The road was nothing but mud and potholes.  I could only average 20 mph..... it would be a LONG day.

The top photo is our bikes parked outside the big construction site motel.  The center is me at the Prudhoe Bay Motel.. standing in the rain.  The lower photo is our motorbikes at "The Mall"
Over & Out!
