Riding the Dalton Part 4

On the way to Coldfoot AK on the Dalton we pass "The Finger" which is an outcropping of rock formations of which one looks like a finger (see upper photo).  This "finger" was used in the early days of Alaska flying as a navigational point - the finger points right at Fairbanks AK.
The road from the Artic Circle to Coldfoot is relatively smooth dirt/gravel and we could maintain about 60 mph (unless the road was wet).  Beautiful mountains surround us.  At one point as we approached a well-known granite peak (I can't remember the name) we came upon more road construction which took us quite a while to get through.  I'll try to find my picture.  Once past the road construction it was a nice ride into Coldfoot.  More tomarrow.  Over & Out!
